Renegade Sambo and Martial Arts
Anthony Sansonetti Instructor & Founder
Welcome to Renegade Martial Arts. I have been studying Martial Arts for over 40 years and opened my first Dojo in 1998 in Levittown, NY. My little Dojo quickly grew from a handful of students in a small studio, to a 3500 sq ft facility with multiple instructors and 100's of students. For over 20 years, we were teaching over 25 classes per week. That's over 25,000 classes taught over that time. I retired from teaching in 2020 and moved to Surfside Beach, South Carolina. I have decided to start a class twice a week with my 11 year old son, to share the knowledge I gained over a lifetime of training and competing. Although I have multiple Black Belts and instructor certification in several Martial Arts, I have decided to focus my efforts on 2 programs. The first is a Kids Karate and Sambo program. There are so many variations of Karate and each school tends to teach differently. Many schools teach a watered-down version to children, and that has led to many people questioning its effectiveness. Our Karate program is without complicated katas and techniques, and instead the focus is on developing strong punching, striking, kicking and defensive skills. Sambo takes over where Karate leaves off. Throws, take downs, hold downs, and submission moves are taught in a logical progression. I have competed in Sambo quite a bit, and plan to have kids compete if they choose to. I am limiting the number of students to 15 kids ages 8-13 years old. After that, we will have a waiting list.
Sambo is considered one of the best Martial Arts, especially for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Many of the best UFC fighters have come from a Sambo background, as it is well known that Sambo instills toughness and well-rounded skills in the participants. Sambo is not taught like other martial arts, with robotic endless repetition, instead it is trained in a more scientific, problem-solving way, as it has both an Eastern and Western Civilization history and philosophy. There are no belt ranks in Sambo to chase or be distracted by and most Sambo instructors are judged by what they and their students have accomplished in competition. Combat Wrestling is a combat sport that is very similar to Sambo but is done without the Jacket and with slightly different rules. Both Sambo and Combat Wrestling are fun and challenging to learn. Like our kids program, we are limiting enrollment to 15 students. If you are interested in training visit the 'Membership Join Now' page. If you have any questions, go to the contact page.
Thank you and I hope to see you on the mats!
